ANCHORPLEX™ SYSTEMS/TALL WALLS – SPECIFIER TRACK
Wednesday, February 8 Atlantic City 9 AM – 10:30 AM (805)
Learn from industry expert Don Armstrong, Anchor Wall’s head engineer about what quality SRW construction requires and what fatal mistakes you must avoid. An ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure and, with SRW construction, far less expensive too. In addition, Don will present the Anchor Plex system for mid-sized SRW construction that eliminates the need for geogrid, large excavations behind walls, and huge amounts of time and energy devoted to backfill compaction; a real money saver.

PERMEABLE INTERLOCKING CONCRETE PAVEMENT (PICP) – ITS IMPACT AND EFFECTIVENESS – SPECIFIER TRACK
Wednesday, February 8 Atlantic City 1 PM – 2:30 PM (820)
Reduction of storm water run-off is of increasing concern and compliance as federal and state impervious surface allotment regulations are forcing homeowners and business owners alike to turn to PICP as a solution for meeting those regulations and allowing the construction walks, patios, driveways, and parking lots. Davis Smith Technical Director for the I.C.P.I. will present a detailed overview of the important design considerations and site variables that must be accounted for in any PICP system. UNBALANCED FILL AND RELATED STRUCTURAL ISSUES FOR RAISED PATIO – SPECIFIER TRACK
Wednesday, February 8 Atlantic City 2:30 PM – 4 PM (830)
Properly planning, specifying, designing, and reviewing raised patio plans requires specialized knowledge well beyond that needed for at-grade patios or deck construction Building codes have not yet directly addressed raised patios, except through inference or related structural regulations, so several common misconceptions persevere. This class will give attendees a much clearer understanding of raised patios and will discuss in detail topics such as unbalanced fill calculations, how to determine if an existing basement wall can support the new load, pressure relief walls, drainage, proper handling of loose fill against a basement wall, flashing and waterproofing, conformance to local building codes, handrails and guards, and retaining wall basics.

VALUE SOLUTIONS WITH GEOSYNTHETICS – SPECIFIER TRACK
Wednesday, February 8 Atlantic City 10:30 AM – 12 PM (813)
In the past fifteen years there have been substantial advancements in the materials and manufacturing processes of geotextile fabrics and geogrid. When these advanced materials are used appropriately in interlocking concrete paver and retaining wall applications, they not only provide greatly enhanced structural performance, but in many cases, provide overall economic savings to a project. These savings can be realized through initial savings in reduced construction costs and overall life cycle costs. This course will provide the attendee with working knowledge for evaluating soil types, site conditions, and applications to identify and choose the appropriate geosynthetic to provide a value solution.
