Its ease of use makes it an ideal visualization tool for architects, landscape architects, designers and contractors.  If you are new to 3D modeling and SketchUp, this presentation will help you understand the modeling process and how you can use SketchUp to design, visualize and communicate your ideas in 3D. This class presents the basic principles and process for 3D modeling, provides an overview of SketchUp’s toolset and the modeling process, provide examples how you can use SketchUp, and some options for extending SketchUp’s capabilities through plugins.

This workshop will provide a “hands-on” introduction to modeling with SketchUp for the beginner.  It will present the proper techniques for using SketchUp’s modeling tools and explain how to use inferences as modeling aids.  Attendees will learn to use both additive and subtractive modeling methods and how they can be used together to make the modeling process more efficient.  It will also present the proper methods for organizing a SketchUp model using groups and components.  Finally, these principles and techniques will be applied to modeling several landscape structures including walks, walls and steps.

Course Objectives:

* Once a registration for the workshop is confirmed, registrants will receive a list of links to software that can be downloaded (Sketchup and some plugins) prior to class attendance.
